myAgro has pioneered a mobile layaway model in West Africa to help farmers save little by little for high-quality seeds, fertilizer, tools, and training to significantly increase their harvests and income. Farmers pay for inputs and training in small increments throughout the year by purchasing prepaid scratch cards—much like the system by which they top up their minutes on a mobile phone account. After a few months of the farmer laying-away funds, myAgro delivers the fertilizer, seed, and training in time for planting season. In Mali and Senegal in 2017, myAgro’s 34,000 customers saw a 60 percent average annual income increase. This innovative approach to microsavings gives every farmer the ability to better provide for her or his family and break the cycle of poverty. myAgro helps smallholder farmers with limited cash generate more income from their land while aggregating demand to stimulate the input market, incentivizing suppliers to produce a sufficient quantity of high-quality fertilizers and seeds. In this way, myAgro drives significant value to the entire smallholder agricultural system. https://www.myagro.org/ Video Credits: Director: Phil Collis Producer: Gabriel Diamond Camera: Robbie Stauder Editor: Matthew Beighley Associate Producer: Shivani Garg Patel The Skoll Awards distinguish transformative leaders whose organizations disrupt the status quo, drive sustainable large-scale change, and are poised to create even greater impact on the world. “Social entrepreneurs share several important characteristics: concern for the vulnerable, optimism about our future, an ability to think and do, and most importantly, an unfailing belief in solutions,” said Jeff Skoll, Founder and Chairman of the Skoll Foundation. “These four remarkable people give us great hope that a more peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future is within reach.” By investing in organizations when an innovation is ripe for accelerated and scaled adoption, the Skoll Awards help unleash the full global potential and reach of social entrepreneurs. We are all perfect and have everything we need to do amazing work. Unfortunately, we often forget as we get trapped in our logical thinking and find it hard to reach our real creative potential. With his unique effervescent style he will explain how to access our subconscious and make our minds more energised, focused and creative. Discover your true creative self! Best-selling author and speaker Chris Baréz-Brown has a rather unusual view of the world: he knows that everybody is perfect. Unfortunately, as we grow up we develop and socialise and we often lose touch with that brilliance and can become somebody we’re not. Chris has worked with thousands of people and has come to one conclusion; creative success comes from tapping your innate genius and not from tools, techniques and clever business process. Chris founded ‘Upping Your Elvis’ in 2009 to help people reconnect with their inner genius and once again become confident in being who they truly are. Although that may seem rather hippie to some, his results produce tangible returns on investment for companies such as The Nike Foundation, Unilever and Diageo, who come back time and again for his unique and energetic approach to transforming their people and their businesses. The Guardian recently described Chris as 'a long haired, twinkly eyed cross between Richard Branson and a wizard'.
